DCVelocity - Pallet-trading website would bring digital platform to outdated market - October 2022
Bettaway Supply Chain Services, a material handling and transportation provider, has launched an online pallet-trading marketplace called PalletTrader to address the pallet supply crisis caused by outdated manual processes and pandemic disruptions. The platform aims to streamline business processes for pallet producers, recyclers, and distributors by connecting them with shippers and depots.
PalletTrader offers a collaborative e-commerce site for managing commercial pallet supply, facilitating efficient transactions for sourcing, buying, and selling pallets. By using the platform, users can replace traditional tools like email, phone calls, or fax with a more efficient pallet procuring process. Bettaway will charge subscription and transaction fees for the service.
The company envisions PalletTrader as a common platform for managing and optimizing pallet inventory as a renewable asset. The platform aims to revolutionize the pallet industry by connecting regional depots and distributors through an open online platform, providing convenience and efficiency similar to online load boards for the trucking industry. The founder of Bettaway, John Vaccaro, emphasizes that the pallet sector is often misunderstood, despite being a $7 billion per year enterprise with a variety of pallet types and associated services offered by local pallet yards.
